The Brief
Re:light was commissioned to create a new lighting scheme for the formal 127 seat restaurant and first floor bar conducive to an intimate dining experience. The restaurant is built around a double height atrium with full height windows across the front elevation revealing stunning harbour views. By day, light and airy, by night the harsh global lighting of the original scheme felt more like a refectory. In addition, the client, with a commitment to zero waste, also required the design to incorporate many of the original fittings, doors, pipe-work and timber.
The Site
Bordeaux Quay is a restaurant, brasserie, bar, deli, bakery and cookery school on Bristol’s harbourside. It’s built over 2 floors in a converted 16,000sq ft warehouse.
