We love a bit of colour here at Re:light, so we were very interested to find out the Pantone Colour of the Year 2021.
The US based Pantone’s Color of the Year is a major influencer of design style and impacts both product development and purchasing decisions in creative industries including fashion, industrial design, product packaging, graphic design – and of course interiors and lighting design!
The Pantone Colour of the Year 2021 is actually two colours together; a cool grey and a sunny yellow – PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray and PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating to be precise.
They describe it as a “marriage of colour conveying a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting.”
On their website the Pantone Color Institute say, “PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating is a bright and cheerful yellow sparkling with vivacity, a warming yellow shade imbued with solar power. PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray is emblematic of solid and dependable elements which are everlasting and provide a firm foundation. The colours of pebbles on the beach and natural elements whose weathered appearance highlights an ability to stand the test of time.”
We always have colour in mind when we design lighting for commercial and residential projects. While it’s the interior designer who creates the colour scheme, we’re there to help bring their vision into reality and design lighting that complements the tones and shades they have chosen.
