At Re:light we design for construction projects of all sizes – but this is a big one! We’re excited to announce that Re:light has been hired to design lighting for the new NEXT distribution center.
Located in West Yorkshire, the state-of-the-art facility will be an extension of the current site in South Elmsall, near Wakefield, to meet increased demand for online sales.
Our team has developed the core lighting design concept for the 800,000 square foot site, which will comprise offices, a large atrium, meeting rooms, roof terraces – and of course a vast warehouse space.
The design intent is that the lighting will feature technological features such as:
-
- Bluetooth mesh lighting which utilises smartphone technology to enable visitors to switch lighting on and off as they navigate the space, find their way around the building, pinpoint stock and use sensor devices to measure temperatures and locate people.
- Human-centric lighting that works with natural circadian rhythms and changes hue according to the time of day.
We’re obviously delighted to be involved in such a largescale project, especially as the construction and running of the Next distribution center will create over 1000 jobs in the area.
